His areas of expertise are ethics and moral psychology. He is also interested in political philosophy, logic, the history of philosophy, the philosophy of religion, and the built environment. Professor Reed is Co-Director of the Minors in Ethics and Justice and leads Canisius` Conversations in Christ and Culture lecture series. He is a member of the Romanell Center for Clinical Ethics and the Philosophy of Medicine at the University at Buffalo. The philosophy major includes the field requirements, level requirements, and thesis requirements. Courses of interest to philosophy students are also taught in the faculties of political science and mathematics in classical political philosophy, modern political philosophy, Hegel and Marx, judgment and mathematical logic. These questions are explored in most courses in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, but not all courses examine them in the same way or assume the same degree of sophistication. The number of courses is a good indication of the level targeted. 200-level courses are designed for second-year students, 300-level courses for juniors, and 400-level courses for seniors. However, a qualified student may, with the consent of the instructor, be admitted to a course at any level. A single course can meet both a domain requirement and a level requirement. No course is allowed to meet two required areas or levels. A maximum of two courses at the 200 level can meet space requirements.
